Have you heard of "The Law of Attraction?"

The theory behind the law of attraction is, the energy of our thoughts (positive or negative) attracts experiences of the same energy to come into our lives.

This attraction is known as "manifesting."

In simpler terms, "like attracts like" or "you attract what you think about the most."

One of the ways to attract what you want is a process called "visualization."

Visualizing the outcome you desire helps create the energy to attract that outcome into your life.

Of course, you can't just dream something into existence! However, when you have a clear-cut vision of what you want, you can start making adjustments to your life that will bring your vision into reality.

Here are some simple steps to begin using visualization:

1. Get clarity,

You need to be crystal clear about the outcome you seek and the "why" or intention behind it.

There can't be any vagueness or ambiguity behind what you want.

2. Be open to all possibilities.

Visualization requires mental flexibility that allows you to look at all possibilities.

What do you want to be doing in your life?

Allow yourself to acknowledge what you want to do with your life without worrying about how to do it.

When you can do this, you can better visualize your dream.

3. Construct a mental picture.

In your mind, paint a picture of the scene where you have achieved your desired outcome.

Try to be as detailed as possible, including the emotions you are feeling at achieving your goal.

4. Have physical representations of your dream around you.

An example would be creating a vision board with photos and sayings representing your desired outcome.

If you use Pinterest, you could create a vision board on that app. Or you could keep pictures on your desktop or phone so you see them daily.

Having physical representations of your dreams makes your goals real and will serve as daily reminders to pursue your goal.

5. Practice your visualization.

Spend 5-10 minutes daily closing your eyes and imagining the scenes.

Keep your dream alive by visualizing your success in achieving it. Feel the emotions.

The more you repeat your visualizations, the more motivated you'll be to take action to go after your goals.

“The key to effective visualization is to create the most detailed, clear and vivid a picture to focus on as possible. The more vivid the visualization, the more likely, and quickly, you are to begin attracting the things that help you achieve what you want to get done.”     George St-Pierre

In addition to visualizing your best life, there are two steps that will help you bring your goals into reality.

1. Express gratitude.

Being grateful for what you already have is an energy amplifier!

It's important to express your gratitude for even the smallest things in your life. Practicing gratitude will help you have a more positive outlook which helps attract positive outcomes.

Take time each day to count your blessings.

2. Detach from the outcome.

It is very important to detach yourself from the outcome.

Visualize your dream, then surrender the outcome to your higher power. By letting go, you won't generate fear or doubt that might stall the process.

Here are some ideas to help you get clear on what you want to manifest for your life.

1. Create a Joy List.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of our lives we forget to focus on the things that bring us joy. Creating a joy list is a way to remind ourselves to make time for those things that bring us joy.

Make a list of all the things that make you happy. You could even add pictures to add more power.

Create a vision board of joy!

Once you have your list, ask yourself, "How can I bring more of these items or activities into my life"? "How could I add one of these items today"?

2. Design your perfect day.

Here's another writing practice for your journal: Write a detailed description your perfect life.

You can start with a normal day from the time you get up until you go to bed. Include all the details you can envision including smells and emotions.

You can expand the vision to add descriptions of holidays, vacations, and time spent with family and friends.

Rather than focusing only on material things, consider how you want to feel.

Who do you want to be? How can you be of service to others or create a positive impact on the world around you?

This exercise will help you become clear on what you sincerely want to manifest.

3. Morning questions.

Here is a list of questions you can use as writing prompts in your journal each morning or, if you don't journal, create cards and pull one each morning and set your intention for the day.

– How do I want to feel today?

– Who do I want to be today?

– What do I want to receive today?

I think about one or more of these questions before I create my "to do" list.

How you want to feel or who you want to be will often change your "what I need to do" and put you on the track to manifesting your life vision.

Resources

If you would like to delve a little deeper into the law of attraction there are some great books I'd recommend reading.

"A Happy Pocket Full of Money" by David Cameron Gikandi

This book is great if you want to manifest more money into your life.

"Excuse me, Your Life is Waiting: The Astonishing Power of Feelings" by Lynn Grabhorn

Learn about the importance of feelings in helping to manifest your dreams. This book offers a fun, playful way of sharing this subject.

"You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise Hay

In this book, Louise Hay shares how limiting beliefs and ideas are often the cause of illness. By changing your thinking you can improve the quality of your life!

This is just a small taste of the books available to help you learn more about the power of your mind!

Other resources include books full of clipart for vision boards and journals dedicated to the Law of Attraction or Gratitude.

I have written a free ebook, "Create the Life You Love"? It's a great book to help you get started on making changes to your life. You can get it by clicking here.

Rebecca, reading this tonight was a manifestation of my asking for a solution to living with someone who smothers me.  And to start being the positive force I want to be.  The truth is I have trouble with the “clarity” part.  It feels scary, and quite impossible, to lay it all out in a crystal-clear way.  So complicated to rise up from after decades of letting it happen.  Asking the universe right now to let me visualize what it is I want.  Period!

P.S.  Intended to thank you for your timely blog in my first note, so am doing it now!  The Lynn Grabhorn title caught my eye, and I’ll be getting it in the mail in the next week or so.  I fully intend to “feel” my way into attracting the life I can almost taste.  May the best house sale manifestation be yours!

Hello Ruth, I'm so sorry for my late reply to your comments. Thank you so much for reaching out and I'm glad that this message resonated with you. It's so important to trust your intuition and feelings.

I did manifest the home sale I wanted but realized that I should have been working on manifesting a way to stay in California where we really want to be rather than manifesting a quick move! A lesson in being clear on what you want and letting go of how it will be achieved!
